PhD project description

My strengths are Complexity, Graph, and Game Theory. My PhD topic is on non-monetary but fair allocation of multiple resource without monetary mechanisms. Such allocation mechanism are relevant to a wide field of application (not limited to informatics) and are of special interests in networks. The fair sharing of bandwidth is a classical network resource allocation problem. However, shared systems also bear allocation problems where more than one resource has to be divided, e.g., the cloud computing paradigm allows different stakeholders to share different resources like CPU, RAM, disk space, and bandwidth. When demands for resources are different, it is necessary to allocate consumers different bundles in oder to maximize satisfaction.

For this purpose I develop an mechanism that receives demands by consumers and assess the proportionality of these, i.e., the greediness of the user that made the demand. To arrive at an allocation, the mechanism shapes the demands of the greedy users.
