The aim of the conference
The current unprecedented growth of multimedia streams in the Internet creates new challenges and concerns in the research communities. Providing scalable Quality of Service (QoS) while maintaining fairness and optimal network resource management are key challenges for the future Internet. Successful deployment of networked multimedia systems depends significantly on the ability of the management infrastructure to be scalable, dynamic and adaptive in order to address these challenges. The integration of service-level and network-level management and control has clearly been shown to greatly facilitate the overall management process.
In just 6 years, MMNS has established itself as one of the premier conferences with a focus on the management of multimedia networks and services. The conference objective is to bring together researchers working in all facets of network and service management as applied to broadband networks and multimedia services. MMNS deals with all aspects of designing, developing and deploying networked multimedia systems and it serves as a forum for the dissemination of state-of-the-art research and development results. MMNS 2001 will also include panel sessions in which experts offer their observations and opinions about current hot topics.
The fourth International Conference on Management of Multimedia Networks and Services follows the MMNS conference held in September 2000 in Fortaliza, Brazil. MMNS uses single-track presentations, which provide an intimate setting for discussion and debate. The conference is known for its high quality papers from various research communities. Selected papers will also be considered for publication as a special issue of the Journal of High Speed Networking (JHSN) and Journal of Networks and Information Systems (JNIS).
